Parents & Grandparents Super Visa

A super visa lets you visit your children or grandchildren for up to 2 years at a time. It’s a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Applicant must be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident of Canada. Their Spouses can be included in the application, but no dependents can be included.

HOW TO APPLY?

One must apply for a super visa from outside Canada and should be

  • allowed to enter Canada
  • take an immigration medical exam.
  • meet certain other conditions

SOME OF THE ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:

 A signed Letter of invitation that includes:

    • a promise of financial support for the length of the visit
    • the list and number of people in the household of the person
    • a copy of the person’s Canadian citizenship or permanent resident document
  • have medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company that is:
    • valid for at least 1 year from the date of entry
    • at least $100,000 coverage
    • have proof that the medical insurance has been paid

SOME ADDITIONAL THINGS VISA OFFICERS CONSIDER

Visa officers consider several things before they decide the application.

  • One must be a genuine visitor to Canada who will leave by choice at the end of the visit.
  • The ties to one’s home country
  • the purpose of visit
  • One’s family and finances
  • the overall economic and political stability of in applicant’s home country
